Walk And Talk Therapy Is
Exactly How It Sounds
Walking outdoors provides an innovative form of therapy. Research has proven it enhances both your mood and self-esteem. You can benefit from physically “moving forward,” as both walking and processing emotions can help stimulate and achieve personal and positive growth. Walking is the simplest positive change anyone can integrate into their lifestyle. It allows those who feel “stuck” to confront difficult issues as it encourages creative and deeper ways of thinking, often released by mood-enhancing physical exercise.
Walking forward while simultaneously looking forward are metaphors for the progress we will create together.
Looking ahead can also make it easier for some people to open up in comparison to sitting and speaking directly face to face with a therapist. Also, seeing a therapist in a more relaxed setting in sneakers, just like the you, creates more of a connection and safe space for honesty and comfort. Being out in the open, outdoors, allows people to feel like they are not being “analyzed”, instead free-flowing conversation is likely to occur.
One distinctive advantage of walk and talk therapy is that it allows the therapist and client to build a better relationship within a faster time frame; therefore, the process of therapy is much faster. Another advantage is developing a stronger Mind Body-Connection. When we change one, then the other will inevitably change as well.
Who can benefit most from walk and talk therapy?
• Anyone experiencing a period of life transition.
Walking forward is a powerful metaphor for actually moving forward in life. No matter what your age is, everyone experiences transitions in every stage of life; whether it be deciding which college to attend or a breakup or divorce, when the body’s composition changes, it is an effective way to cope and feel clarity.
• Anyone suffering from symptoms of depression.
Exercising has been proven to be one of the most effective methods of intervention in treating depression. Antidepressant use is constantly on the rise and though it can be effective, the body becomes used to a certain dosage and then requires more. It is a known fact that antidepressants are most effective when combined with talk therapy. So, if we take the therapy to the next level, to Walk and Talk therapy, the results can be even greater in treating depression.
• Anyone suffering from low self-esteem, peer pressure, or lack of positive body image.
Intervening at a younger age is helpful when it comes to shaping positive self-esteem and body image. Walk and Talk therapy is helpful for young adults who do not feel comfortable sitting in a therapist’s office. The environment outdoors can assist in feeling more comfortable and remove some of the pressure. This is extremely effective for adults at any age. It is not uncommon for self-esteem to waver through life after a breakup, divorce, loss of a job or any other major transition.
Relief from stress, anxiety, and sleep deprivation are additional benefits to this unique form of talk therapy. Learning to develop a regular walk/ exercise routine has overall benefits for any individual’s health.

Here Is What My Clients Have To Say
"I would like to take a moment to say how grateful I am for the therapy process I went through with you at a time in life when I felt extremely fragile. A transformation period in three major areas, the pillars of support that made my ground shake: health, work and marriage. The sessions with you through that period were essential to keep me stable and focused. Your way of reflecting back my words, like a mirror, adding touches of possible changes, insights and opportunities helped me through that turbulent period. Thank you for your follow-up call a year later. I would like you to know how much I appreciate your professional and personal work. May your life continue to bless and guide the lives of others."
"Alina is not only warm and compassionate, but also an effective teacher and guide. She helped me identify and reverse my negative thoughts, and replace them with positive thoughts and actions. Thanks to her, I no longer feel the paralyzing anxiety that affected me for years, and my quality of life has greatly improved. Thanks, Alina!"

"I had never been to therapy before and I didn't know what to expect. I feel so lucky I got to work with Alina. I felt really comfortable with her. She brought to light things I wasn't even aware of and helped me understand unhelpful patterns I have been repeating for so many years. She's such a warm and welcoming person and an extremely knowledgable therapist. I was a mess when I first began and I am feeling so much better now, I am so thankful. "
“My 16 year old daughter was very sad and depressed and she would not open up to us. It was affecting her school grades and social life. As soon as she started working with Alina my wife and I saw an immediate and positive improvement. Alina is a great listener as well as suggesting practical strategies that helped my daughter cope with her issues. I highly recommend her as a therapist. "
